This grant is a portion of the more than $1.6 million in grants MAC awarded in Fiscal Year 2023 and will be used to help fund the annual DMI Summer Camp, which provides high school students with an opportunity to have a hands-on experience in audio engineering, songwriting, and commercial music performance. The grants are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.<\/p>\n

DMI Director Richard Tremmel said, \u201cWe are very fortunate to be able to introduce high school students to our Entertainment Industry Studies program at Delta State University through our DMI Summer Camp. Without funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, this would not be possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

David Lewis, executive director of MAC said, \u201cMAC is honored to support the exceptional work of arts organizations who cultivate the culture we, as Mississippians, have become known for producing. These funds will help organizations build upon their successes for arts-based programming within their community. MAC awards annual grants to organizations in nearly every area of the state, helping broaden the reach of arts to serve the state\u2019s diverse population.\u201d<\/p>\n

The DMI offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Entertainment Industry Studies. This innovative program intends to develop a broad range of skills in audio engineering technology and entertainment industry entrepreneurship that will give students a foundational knowledge base for working in various entertainment industry careers. Graduates are well prepared for the technical, business, and legal issues that confront practicing entertainment industry professionals today and in the future.<\/p>\n
