The Spring Teacher Recruitment Day was held March 1, and saw 45 school districts, graduate schools and organizations come to campus looking to fill positions around the state and the Southeast. Spring Career Day was held March 8, and 25 companies and organizations made their pitch to prospective interns and potential future employees.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Director of Career Services Nakikke Wallace said, \u201cIt\u2019s about getting our students ready to take advantage of opportunities.\u201d Her department, in addition to hosting recruitment fairs, holds seminars to give students tips on preparing for interviews, writing resumes and other guidance for entering the job market.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think you need to be coming to career fair freshman year, just to see what it is,\u201d she said. \u201cBy sophomore year, especially second semester, you need to be thinking about internships. By senior year you need to be thinking about full-time employment or graduate school.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the coming weeks, Career Services will be holding career readiness and development workshops to teach students how to connect with employers and be better prepared for life after graduation.
