Delta State University will fly its flags at half-staff through sunset Thursday, Jan. 26, in honor of the victims of the tragedy in Monterey Park, California.<\/p>\n
The following is a copy of the proclamation issued by U.S. President Joseph R. Biden, Jr.:<\/p>\n
As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts\u00a0of violence perpetrated on January 21, 2023, in\u00a0Monterey Park, California, by the authority vested in me as President of\u00a0the United States by the\u00a0Constitution and the laws of the United\u00a0States of America, I\u00a0hereby order that the flag of\u00a0the United\u00a0States shall be flown at half-staff at the White\u00a0House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United\u00a0States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, January 26, 2023.\u00a0I also direct that the flag shall be flown at\u00a0half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and\u00a0stations.<\/em><\/p>\n IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twenty-second day of January, in the year of our Lord two\u00a0thousand\u00a0twenty-three, and of the Independence of the United\u00a0States of\u00a0America the two\u00a0hundred and forty-seventh.<\/em><\/p>\n JOSEPH R.
