Inspired by the beloved films, the romantic and adventure-filled new musical ANASTASIA is on a journey to the Mississippi Delta at last! The national tour of ANASTASIA comes to the Bologna Performing Arts Center on November 15 at 7:30pm. From the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime<\/em> and inspired by the beloved films, ANASTASIA<\/em><\/strong> is the new Broadway musical that\u2019s \u201cone of the most gorgeous shows in years!\u201d (New York Observer<\/em>). This dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love, and family.<\/p>\n

The cast includes Veronica Stern <\/strong>as Anya<\/em>, Willem Butler <\/strong>as Dmitry<\/em>, Ben Edquist<\/strong> as Gleb<\/em>, Gerri Weagraff<\/strong> as Dowager Empress<\/em>, Bryan Seastrom<\/strong> as Vlad<\/em>, Madeline Raube<\/strong> as Countess Lily <\/em>and Leela Chopra <\/strong>and Alexandrya Salazar<\/strong> as Little Anastasia. <\/em>The ensemble includes Kaitlyn Jackson<\/strong>, Lance Timothy Barker<\/strong>, William Aaron Bishop<\/strong>, Billy McGavin, Louis Brogna, Zachary Bigelow, Thalia Atallah, Alec Lloyd, Amy Smith, Amin Fuson, Victoria Madden,<\/strong> Aidan Ziegler-Hansen,<\/strong> Brooklyn Libao, Rebecca Hartman, Lathan A. Roberts, Sarah Statler<\/strong> and Lauren Teyke.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ANASTASIA <\/em><\/strong>features a book by celebrated playwright the late Terrence McNally<\/strong>, a lush, new score by the Tony Award\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong> -winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime<\/em>, Stephen Flaherty <\/strong>(music) and Lynn Ahrens<\/strong> (lyrics), and tour direction by Sarah Hartman <\/strong>based on original direction by Tony Award\u00ae<\/sup><\/strong>-winning director Darko Tresnjak.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The creative team also includes Peggy Hickey<\/strong> (Original Choreographer), Bill Burns<\/strong> (Choreographer), Alexander Dodge<\/strong> (Set Design), Linda Cho <\/strong>(Costume Design), Donald Holder<\/strong> (Lighting Design), Peter Hylenski<\/strong> (Sound Design), Aaron Rhyne<\/strong> (Projection Design), Charles G. ANASTASIA <\/em><\/strong>began performances on Broadway in March 2017 at the Broadhurst Theatre with critics exclaiming \u201cAhrens and Flaherty have chosen the right moments to musicalize, and their score here sounds complete and full \u2014 one of the season\u2019s strongest! (NBC<\/em>)\u201d and \u201cSmartly adapted by Terrence McNally, Anastasia<\/em> is a sweeping adventure, romance and historical epic whose fine craftsmanship will satisfy musical-theater fans (Time Out<\/em>)\u201d.<\/p>\n

The show played to sold out audiences on Broadway for more than 3 years before expanding it\u2019s global \u201cFanastasia\u201d community with productions on tour across North America and in Japan, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. Globally, the show has been performed more than 2,500 times and sold 3.4 million tickets. Additionally, the show has garnered more than 15 major international awards, including Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards and Best New Musical in Spain, Germany and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n
