CLEVELAND, Miss.\u2014<\/strong>A track-record of perfect accreditation evaluations has earned the Delta State University College of Education and Human Sciences the 2022 Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement award from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).<\/p>\n

The recipients of the 2022 Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement award provided evidence and data trends to achieve accreditation with no stipulations or areas for improvement.<\/p>\n

Delta State is one of just 32 teacher prep programs from 16 states, Puerto Rico and Jordan to receive the prestigious award for its demonstrated leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeadership abounds within Delta State\u2019s College of Education and Human Sciences,\u201d said Dr. Andy Novobilski, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at Delta State.\u00a0 \u201cOur graduates serve the Delta by educating their students with the same attention to detail modeled by our faculty and staff daily.\u00a0We\u2019re proud to see our education programs recognized by CAEP as it demonstrates to the nation our commitment to continuous quality improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement is named after the founding President of the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). CAEP was created by the consolidation of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and TEAC.<\/p>\n

Murray was the founding President of TEAC, served as Chairman of the Board for TEAC and was also an initial member of the CAEP Board of Directors. He was a key advocate for a single set of educator preparation standards to unify the profession and was instrumental in the merger that created CAEP. He also served as the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Delaware from 1979 to 1995.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cFrank Murray was passionate about education preparation, a prominent leader in our profession, and an advocate for evidence to improve education. The providers that CAEP is recognizing are committed to continuous improvement and preparing their students to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate,\u201d said Yuhang Rong Chair of the CAEP Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

\u201cCAEP Accreditation is a sign of commitment to quality through purposeful use of evidence. The Murray Leadership Recognition recipients should be proud of their accomplishments,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

CAEP accreditation serves the dual purposes of accountability and continuous improvement.\u00a0 471 educator preparation providers in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates have been accredited under the CAEP Standards.<\/p>\n

Delta State\u2019s Division of Teacher Education, Leadership, and Research is a robust and innovative division within the College of Education and Human Sciences. In addition to offering an Elementary Education bachelor\u2019s degree, the Division\u2019s graduate programs include a Master\u2019s in Special Education, Master\u2019s and Specialist\u2019s in Elementary Education, Master of Arts in Teaching (Alternate Route), Master\u2019s and Specialist\u2019s in Educational Administration and Supervision, and Doctor of Professional Studies with tracks in Higher Education, Educational Administration and Supervision, and Curriculum and Instruction.<\/p>\n
