{"id":914,"date":"2008-12-12T16:12:56","date_gmt":"2008-12-12T16:12:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2008\/12\/12\/delta-state-university-oratorical-contest-winners-announced\/"},"modified":"2013-11-04T11:32:33","modified_gmt":"2013-11-04T17:32:33","slug":"delta-state-university-oratorical-contest-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2008\/12\/delta-state-university-oratorical-contest-winners-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta State University Oratorical Contest winners announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/Images\/univ_relations\/Oratorical08.jpg\" width=\"288\" height=\"216\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<p align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The winners of the Delta State University Fall 2008 Oratorical Contest were April Mondy (left), a freshman computer information systems major of Helena, Ark., and Brianna McBeath, a freshman psychology major of Noxapater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span>Mondy\u2019s winning speech in the persuasive category was entitled \u201cUniversal Healthcare,\u201d and McBeath\u2019s 1<sup>st<\/sup> place speech, \u201cOrphanages in China,\u201d won for the informative category. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span>The 1<sup>st<\/sup> Place winners received a $150 leadership scholarship from Dr. Wayne Blansett and the Delta State Division of Student Affairs. Monday and McBeath were also presented a plaque. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><span>The Oratorical Contest was sponsored by the Communication Studies and Theatre Arts Program, Division of Languages and Literature.
