Deborah Cox<\/p><\/div>\n

A native of McComb, Miss., Cox served as CFO for Delta State’s Foundation from 2005 to 2019. She was an active member of the Cleveland community through several local organizations and supported numerous volunteer opportunities.<\/p>\n

Cox passed away in June 2021 at the age of 46 following a battle with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cDeborah was a long-time employee of the Foundation as the CFO, who, in essence, did everything behind the scenes,\u201d said Tom Janoush, board president of the DSU Foundation. \u201cShe loved Delta State no matter what, and she truly bled green and white. We couldn\u2019t think of a better person to name this endowment in honor of.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Janoush, the general endowment will provide unrestricted funds to help support the Delta State Foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just provide more options,\u201d Janoush explained. \u201cUnrestricted endowments allow your money to be put to more uses and guarantees that it gets used in the area of greatest need.\u201d<\/p>\n

He encourages others to consider supporting this general endowment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI strongly encourage anyone that\u2019s considering how they can do some good in this world to give back to Delta State and provide money to help students complete their education,\u201d said Janoush. \u201cIf you want to have your money work for you and pay you back, give it to a student to go to school\u2026it\u2019s pretty special.\u201d<\/p>\n
