Jackson received the coveted crown during a pageant hosted Tuesday, Nov. 9, in the Bologna Performing Arts Center. During the pageant, she performed American Sign Language to \u201cImagine\u201d by John Lennon as her talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs soon as they announced my name as Miss Delta State, I immediately felt the love and support from the crowd and my Delta State family,\u201d shared Jackson. \u201cI then knew that I was making an impact in people\u2019s lives and that I will get many more opportunities to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s platform is Dyslexia Awareness. She plans to encourage conversations about dyslexia, work to dispel myths through education, organize fundraisers to provide support for those with dyslexia and share tips and experiences concerning dyslexia.<\/p>\n

Jackson is the daughter of Scott and Rhonda Jackson. She is involved on campus as president of the Delta Diplomats, vice president of Phi Mu Fraternity, vice president of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association.<\/p>\n

In addition, Jackson is a member of the Okra Patch and currently serves as a student assistant in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.<\/p>\n

During the pageant, Claire Armishaw of Cleveland, Miss., was named as First Alternate to Miss. Delta State 2022, and participant Demyia Graham of Port Gibson, Miss., received the Career Services Interview Award. Other participants included Maddie Stevens of Anguilla, Miss., and Abigail Martin of Tilltoba, Miss.<\/p>\n

As Miss Delta State University 2022, Jackson will head to Vicksburg this summer to compete as a candidate in the Miss Mississippi Scholarship Competition on June 22-25, 2022.<\/p>\n
