Themed \u201cConquering Cancer and Covid,\u201d the event, hosted Oct. 20, was designed to raise breast cancer as well as COVID-19 awareness.<\/p>\n

Participants gathered on Delta State\u2019s Quadrangle to enjoy gifts and prizes while receiving information on breast cancer and COVID-19. Attendees were also encouraged to walk a mile on the Quad in support of breast cancer awareness.<\/p>\n

During the 2021 \u201cPink Out on the Quad\u201d event, participants walked a mile to raise breast cancer awareness.<\/p><\/div>\n

The event concluded later that evening with a candlelight memorial to remember the victims of COVID-19. During the vigil, participants had the opportunity to discuss their experiences with COVID-19 and to commemorate those who may have lost their lives to the virus.<\/p>\n

Alex Cox, a senior Social Justice Criminology and Global Studies major, serves as the president of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), one of the event\u2019s sponsors.<\/p>\n

Cox expressed gratitude to everyone who came out to support the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really do appreciate their support; it really means a lot to us to be able to provide the information and service to out DSU community,\u201d said Cox.<\/p>\n

The 2021 \u201cPink Out on the Quad\u201d event was sponsored by the National Society of Leadership and Success, the Student Government Association, the O.W. Reilly Student Health Center and the Kappa Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at Delta State University.<\/p>\n
