Dr. Liza Bondurant<\/p><\/div>\n

Associate Professor of Mathematics Dr. Liza Bondurant was one of 20 inspiring women in the nation selected for the prestigious distinction designed to support women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) who are making a difference in STEM education and beyond.<\/p>\n

Winners were nominated by colleagues and each honoree received an award certificate and $250 to support their professional endeavors.<\/p>\n

“Congratulations<\/span>\u00a0to Dr. Bondurant on her<\/span>\u00a0selection for as a 2021 STEM Hall of Femme winner,\u201d said Delta State Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Andy Nobovolski. \u201cDr. Bondurant is among a distinctive list of scholars who care deeply for the student experience as part of their education.\u00a0Delta State is honored by her recognition.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bondurant said she is humbled to be listed among this year\u2019s STEM Hall of Femme winners.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honored to be recognized and to inspire females to pursue STEM careers,\u201d she said. \u201cI use several activities in my courses to instill a growth mindset towards mathematics in my students. I also share how mathematics can be used in their everyday lives and a variety of careers.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to her role as an associate professor, Bondurant also serves as the program coordinator for Delta State\u2019s Secondary Mathematics Education program, where she focuses on the improvement of students’ experiences with school mathematics, pre-service teacher learning during teacher preparation, and contexts and experiences that support teacher learning.<\/p>\n

Her latest honor tags onto an impressive list of other awards. Bondurant was selected as the College Teacher of the Year in 2020 by the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She also served as president of the Mississippi Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators from 2017-2020.<\/p>\n

She encourages other women entering STEM careers to \u201cwork hard and believe in yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bondurant received her bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s, and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active and crafting.<\/p>\n
