CLEVELAND, Miss.\u2014<\/strong> As more individuals are becoming vaccinated and COVID-19 infection numbers continue to decrease, Delta State University will begin to expand community access to campus facilities while continuing its observance of COVID-19 protocols.<\/p>\n

Beginning Monday, May 3, Delta State will re-open facilities, including its natatorium, basketball gym, racquetball courts, tennis courts and fitness center, to registered community users.<\/p>\n

In addition, the University will also resume the rental of campus facilities to the public, as outlined by its facility reservation policy.<\/p>\n

Delta State\u2019s CFO & Vice President for Finance & Administration James Rutledge said the university is looking forward to re-opening campus facilities and amenities to community members.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the continued support of our campus and the surrounding community in adhering to our DSU COVID-19 protocols,\u201d said Delta State\u2019s CFO & Vice President for Finance & Administration James Rutledge.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the decrease in cases, along with the increasing number of individuals being vaccinated, University administration felt it was the appropriate time to relax some of our COVID-19 restrictions in compliance with guidelines from the CDC and the Mississippi State Department of Health.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the University transitions to summer hours on Monday, May 3 (7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, closed on Fridays), the Chick-Fil-A and Firehouse Subs, located in the H.L. Nowell Student Union, will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and closed on Fridays from May 3 through Aug. 15.<\/p>\n

The DSU Book Store, also located in the student union, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays throughout the summer.<\/p>\n

The Young Mauldin Cafeteria is set to re-open to the community beginning Sunday, Aug. 15.<\/p>\n

With the relaxed restrictions, the University will continue enforcing COVID-19 protocols, including wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing and observing building\/room capacity limits.<\/p>\n
