Alumni Chapter establishes endowed scholarship to support students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\"><b>CLEVELAND, Miss.\u2014<\/b> The Bolivar County Chapter of Delta State University\u2019s National Alumni Association has expanded its assistance to students with the establishment of its first endowed scholarship.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">The Bolivar County Alumni Endowed Scholarship has been created to provide financial support for deserving students from Bolivar County attending Delta State.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">The endowed scholarship fund will assist students who display financial need with tuition expenses, ensuring that they\u2019re able to successfully complete their college degree at DSU.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">\u201cWe\u2019re excited about reaching the milestone of implementing the first endowed scholarship fund through the National Alumni Association,\u201d said DSU\u2019s Director of Alumni Affairs and Annual Fund James Forte\u2019 (\u201918).<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">\u201cThe Alumni Association is designed to provide support for alumni as well as the university,\u201d Forte\u2019 explained. \u201cThrough this endowment, we\u2019re able to simultaneously support both by creating avenues to assist current students as they matriculate at Delta State.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">Shane Howell (\u201906), president of the Bolivar County Chapter of the DSU National Alumni Association, said the chapter is honored to provide this scholarship opportunity to Bolivar County area students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">\u201cAs alumni, and as members of the local alumni chapter for Delta State, I feel that we have an obligation to invest in our university and the local students that choose to call DSU home,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">\u201cThis is something that I am very passionate about, and I think it\u2019s only fitting that our Bolivar County Alumni Chapter is the first to establish an endowed scholarship. I hope this is the first of many!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">Forte\u2019 expressed similar sentiments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"m7944001556445366263xp1\">\u201cI believe that this is only the beginning of something great,\u201d he said. \u201cOur dedicated alums have the potential and the desire to make an even greater impact on the university, our students and the community.
