CLEVELAND, Miss.<\/strong>\u2014<\/strong>As technology advances, the need for information systems professionals continues to increase.<\/p>\n

Delta State University is helping to meet the demand through its Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Information Systems program which was recently recognized as one of the Top 40 MBAs in Information Systems in the country by BestValueSchools.org.<\/p>\n

BestValueSchools.org is an online resource designed to provide information and resources to assist prospective students in continuing their college education.<\/p>\n

The evaluations were completed by compiling a list of colleges and universities offering MBA programs with an emphasis in information systems, information technology, or similar concentration and ranking the top 40 schools based on affordability and enrollment size.<\/p>\n

Delta State is ranked No. 25.<\/p>\n

Graduate Program Coordinator Dr. Lisa Cooley said it is an honor for Delta State to be recognized among the top 40 MBA programs in Information Systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are over 1,000 MBA programs in the United States. Being selected as a top program is incredibly prestigious,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be included in a list of schools like the University of Pennsylvania (an Ivy League), Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Auburn really speaks to the quality of our MBA programs. It proves that you don\u2019t have to attend a large or expensive program to receive a quality education. We have known about the value of our MBA program, and it\u2019s nice to be recognized on a national level,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

An MBA in Information Systems combines the best of two worlds: a solid base in business and management skills along with knowledge in information systems. The degree prepares students for careers in the management of information systems and information technology.<\/p>\n

Delta State offers an integrated MBA (iMBA) with a concentration in Information Systems Management.<\/p>\n

The online program was created for entrepreneurs, managers, and business professionals who want to improve their leadership, managerial, and interpersonal skills in order to move ahead in their careers. The program can be completed in as little as one year.<\/p>\n

According to Cooley, in addition to its affordability, DSU\u2019s MBA program offers a great student-teacher ratio.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis allows our professors to provide a better, more interactive experience with students. Additionally, our classes aren\u2019t taught by graduate assistants, they are taught by faculty who are experts in their field,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Another unique point about Delta State\u2019s iMBA program is its module format.<\/p>\n

\u201cProfessors work together to provide content in an organized manner. Generally, students will spend a few weeks on each class before moving on to the next, and at the conclusion of the semester students submit a project that integrates all of the classes in the module,\u201d explained Cooley.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy working together in an organized fashion, our faculty provide all of the content of a normal course in a more efficient manner. This is important because most of our students work full-time,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
