Delta State University\u2019s 3rd Annual #GivingTuesday fundraiser totaled a record-high of $316, 555\u2014the University\u2019s most successful campaign to date.<\/p>\n
Hosted this year on Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s fundraiser, themed \u201cProud to be a\u2026Statesmen, Fighting Okra or Both\u201d, encouraged students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Delta State to showcase their school pride by supporting DSU\u2019s #GivingTuesday campaign.<\/p>\n
Supporters donated towards 12 DSU academic and athletic programs and the University\u2019s Annual Fund, with this year\u2019s total showing a major increase in contributions compared to previous campaigns.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very thankful for the support our community of alumni and friends have given DSU this year\u2014we are truly blessed,\u201d said DSU\u2019s Vice President of University Relations and External Affairs Rick Munroe. \u201cAlso, thank you to the DSU Foundation staff and the hours of hard work preparing for this year’s giving Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.<\/p>\n
