Salazar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Coinciding with National Hispanic Heritage Month and Delta State University\u2019s Hispanic Heritage Day celebration, the DSU Division of Languages and Literature is hosting a poetry reading, featuring Latinx, Mississippi-based poet C.T. Salazar.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The virtual event is slated for 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, via <a href=\"https:\/\/deltastate.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tJcldOCgqT4iGtFpkitqHSRd2Mc7dIAS6ASU\">Zoom<\/a>. During the event, Salazar will read selected poems from his latest published collection, \u201cForty Stitches Sewing a Body Against a Ramshackle Night\u201d and his forthcoming \u201cHeadless John the Baptist Hitchhiking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to celebrating the rich history of Hispanic Americans, the poetry reading is also part of the Division of Languages and Literature\u2019s ongoing visiting writers program and is the first in the Division\u2019s new &#8220;DA Reading Series,&#8221; a namesake of DSU\u2019s student literary magazine,\u201cDa\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-86847 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/10\/CT-Cover-front-only-298x430.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"184\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/10\/CT-Cover-front-only-298x430.png 298w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/10\/CT-Cover-front-only-768x1107.png 768w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/10\/CT-Cover-front-only-711x1024.png 711w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/10\/CT-Cover-front-only-83x120.png 83w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 184px) 100vw, 184px\" \/>Salazar is a Latinx poet and librarian from Mississippi. He&#8217;s the author of the forthcoming work, \u201cHeadless John the Baptist Hitchhiking,\u201d set to be released in 2022. He has also authored three chapbooks\u2014&#8221;American Cavewall Sonnets,\u201d \u201cForty Stitches Sewing a Body Against a Ramshackle Night\u201d and \u201cThis Might Have Meant Fire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When describing Salazar\u2019s latest work, Animal Heart Press stated, \u201cIf you already know the poetry of C.T. Salazar, you will not be surprised when reading \u2018Forty Stitches Sewing a Body Against a Ramshackle Night\u2019 that he can create entire worlds in a few lines.
