Meredith.<\/p>\n<p>He was born and raised and still lives in the county seat, Clarksdale. He and his wife of 43 years, Donna, started dating in eighth grade at Riverside Baptist School in Clarksdale and worship at the church. And he\u2019s been county coroner for 23 years.<\/p>\n<p>Ties to the Mississippi Delta run so deep that the couple have established an annual $500 Scotty A. Meredith Scholarship for a Coahoma Community College graduate who lives in the county to attend Delta State University.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely passionate about helping those in our local community,\u201d said Meredith, a first-time DSU donor who further owns Oakridge Cemetery and Memorial Gardens Cemetery and co-owns Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home, all in Clarksdale.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship recipient also must participate in community service on campus or in the community and can be a full-time or part-time incoming undergraduate student at Delta State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiving starts at home,\u201d added Meredith, father of three and grandfather of five. \u201cI hope this helps someone along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coahoma County means everything to Scotty A.
