The mystery tale includes it as a setting among other Mississippi backdrops.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Morris will sign copies at the free and public event, which takes place in the Jutta Karnstedt Ferretti Special Collections Room. Book sales ($20) benefit the Delta State General Scholarship Fund.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Prison<\/em> and an earlier novel \u201cwere born and bred\u201d in the Delta, he said in an email.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Prison <\/em>details \u201ca father\u2019s daring prison escape, his young kidnapped daughter\u2019s flight from militia and an aging granddad\u2019s sleuthing,\u201d according to press materials. In sync with the FBI, they strive to halt \u201ca plot to blow up Mississippi River bridges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-82949\" src=\"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/The-Prison-eimage-285x430.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"285\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/The-Prison-eimage-285x430.jpg 285w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/The-Prison-eimage-768x1159.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/The-Prison-eimage-678x1024.jpg 678w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/The-Prison-eimage-79x120.jpg 79w, https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2019\/02\/The-Prison-eimage.jpg 1656w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A psychologist and jury consultant with numerous works of fiction and nonfiction to his credit, Morris hopes that readers will discover \u201cthat the Mississippi Delta, despite its tangle of race and politics, is, and has been, a land of promise and hope and, above all, of redemption,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Morris\u2014who also studied at Millsaps College, Emory University, and University of Mississippi, and who splits his time between Tupelo and Lake Junaluska, N.C.\u2014is excited to visit campus again, see classmates, and relive \u201csome of the best and fondest memories of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those included taking classes with Dr. William F.
