{"id":81712,"date":"2018-10-17T18:11:21","date_gmt":"2018-10-17T23:11:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=81712"},"modified":"2018-10-17T18:11:21","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T23:11:21","slug":"two-delta-state-presentations-at-mississippi-recreation-and-parks-annual-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2018\/10\/two-delta-state-presentations-at-mississippi-recreation-and-parks-annual-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Delta State Presentations at Mississippi Recreation and Parks Annual Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Todd Davis, assistant professor in the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) at Delta State University, and director of the College of Education and Human Sciences\u2019 Outdoor Recreation Education Program, delivered two professional presentations at the Mississippi Recreation and Parks annual conference held in Oxford, Mississippi, Oct. 15-17.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe State of Outdoor Recreation in Mississippi: Problems, Possibilities, and Programs\u201d\u2014partnered with Britnee Smith, instructor in HPER and coordinator of the physical education teacher prep program; and Katie Gennarelli, graduate assistant for outdoor programs\u2014focused on challenges and opportunities for the state of Mississippi. Davis also shared Delta State\u2019s Outdoor Recreation Program model. Smith and Gennarelli discussed their ongoing research project regarding gender-centric and gender socialization issues in outdoor recreation as well as highlighted paddling, hiking, and biking (trail &amp; road) in Mississippi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResearch in Recreation: A Virtual Research Poster Symposium\u201d included several Delta State student research projects conducted in PER 435 Recreation Seminar, a research-based course in the recreation administration program.
