In addition, there will be one male student elected to the Homecoming Court with the title of Mr. Green and White.<\/p>\n<p>Both Mr. and\u00a0Miss\u00a0Green and White\u00a0must be seniors who will be\u00a0enrolled during the spring\u00a0semester.<\/p>\n<p>SGA President Ashley Griffin said the SGA felt\u00a0titles of such a high honor should\u00a0be\u00a0recognized accordingly\u00a0and should have certain\u00a0benefits such\u00a0as throwing\u00a0out\u00a0the first pitch of a baseball game, being recognized as campus-elected leaders at\u00a0official university events, athletic functions, and in\u00a0the local community.<\/p>\n<p>As the\u00a0official representatives\u00a0of\u00a0Delta\u00a0State\u00a0University&#8217;s\u00a0student body, Mr. And Miss Green and White will be required to identify and advocate for a platform, she added.<\/p>\n<p>The Homecoming Court will consist of two female representatives for freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes, three female representatives for the\u00a0senior class, and one male who had been selected as Mr.\u00a0Green and White.\u00a0This year, the Homecoming Court will be announced during the Valdosta Game on Oct. 21. All representatives\u00a0will participate in\u00a0the\u00a0Homecoming Parade the morning of the Homecoming game on Nov. 11.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with\u00a0Delta State\u00a0tradition,\u00a0Miss\u00a0Green and White\u00a0will\u00a0not be announced until half-time of the Homecoming\u00a0game. Miss\u00a0Green and White\u00a0would\u00a0be one of the three senior maids.<\/p>\n<p>The Mr. and Miss\u00a0Green and White\u00a0(formerly known as\u00a0Mr.\u00a0and Miss DSU)\u00a0elections have typically been held\u00a0during\u00a0the\u00a0spring\u00a0semester.\u00a0To replace the void that will\u00a0be created by moving elections to the fall, this year SGA will implement a\u00a0<i>Statesman and Lady Statesman of the Year\u00a0<\/i>award. This person will be chosen through an application process that will decided\u00a0upon by a panel of faculty and staff, administration, and\u00a0students.\u00a0\u00a0The winners of these awards will be recognized at the Hall of Fame dinner in May\u00a02018.<\/p>\n<p>Homecoming elections will be held on Oct. 16-18 in the\u00a0first\u00a0floor\u00a0lobby of the Student Union.
