GRAMMY Museum Mississippi is pleased to welcome Cody Dickinson to the Sanders Soundstage, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. for an intimate discussion on his new album and career, moderated by Shannon McNally, GRAMMY\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0nominee and Board member of The Recording Academy\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0Memphis Chapter.<\/p>\n

Dickinson, who is probably best known for being a member of the GRAMMY-nominated North Mississippi Allstars, recently released his first solo album,\u00a0Leeway for the Freeway<\/em>\u00a0which features a few collaborations, including one with his brother, Luther Dickinson.\u00a0 The evening\u2019s conversation will be followed by a special musical performance by Dickinson.<\/p>\n

About Cody Dickinson<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cody Dickinson is an artistic entrepreneur in the fields of music and film. Over the course of his career Cody has contributed to several major motion picture soundtracks, including\u00a0\u201cBarnyard\u201d, \u201cSnoop\u2019s Hood of Horror\u201d, \u201cThe Mechanic\u201d, \u201cBlack Snake Moan\u201d, and \u201cBrand\u201d the film. In recent years Cody has transitioned from creating music for films to producing films.<\/p>\n

Cody\u2019s most recent achievement in film is the award-winning documentary he produced and co- created,\u00a0Take Me to the River<\/em>. An incredible journey through the music of Memphis, the film brings multiple generations of first-class\u00a0Memphis and Mississippi Delta musicians together and captures the creative process of recording a historic new album. Cody also co-produced the soundtrack for the documentary, which pairs music legends and contemporary artists as they reinterpret songs that define the soul of American music.<\/p>\n

Perhaps best known as the drummer and founding member of North Mississippi Allstars, Cody continues to be one of the music industry\u2019s premier drummers, demonstrated by his 2013 Blues Music Awards nomination in the \u2018Best Instrumentalist\/Drums\u2019 category. He\u2019s earned three GRAMMY nominations as a member of North Mississippi Allstars and shared the stage with the likes of Robert Plant, the Allman Brothers, Mavis Staples, and Patty Griffin among others. As a music producer, Cody has worked with a wide range of musicians including Lucero, Ross Neilson and The Grahams. He also produced British blues guitarist Ian Siegal\u2019s two recent albums,\u00a0\u201cThe Skinny\u201d\u00a0(2011) and\u00a0\u201cCandystore Kid\u201d\u00a0(2012), both of which were nominated for \u2018Best Contemporary Blues Album\u2019 at the annual Blues Music Awards.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Cody performed on many new releases, including Jim Lauderdale\u2019s\u00a0\u201cSoul Searching\u201d,\u00a0The Word\u2019s\u00a0\u201cSoul Food\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0Cody Simpson\u2019s\u00a0\u201cFree\u201d.<\/p>\n

His first solo record\u00a0Leeway for the Freeway<\/em>\u00a0was released worldwide online via the Orchard on July 8, 2016.<\/p>\n
