{"id":69766,"date":"2016-03-30T13:11:28","date_gmt":"2016-03-30T18:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=69766"},"modified":"2016-03-30T13:11:28","modified_gmt":"2016-03-30T18:11:28","slug":"students-present-at-posters-in-the-rotunda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2016\/03\/students-present-at-posters-in-the-rotunda\/","title":{"rendered":"Students present at Posters in the Rotunda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Three undergraduate students recently represented Delta State\u00a0in the inaugural Posters in the Rotunda event at the State Capitol\u00a0in Jackson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students from all eight of Mississippi\u2019s public universities shared their research and creative activities on a wide variety of topics with legislators and state leaders.\u00a0The event allowed students to show how their research solves some of Mississippi\u2019s most pressing problems and benefits the citizens of the state.<\/p>\n<p>Participating Delta State students and their topics included:<br \/>\n<span class=\"s1\">&#8211; Brian Barnett of Winchester, Virginia \u2014 Blood Flow Occlusion Pressure at Rest and Post Low Load Exercise<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\">&#8211; Christine Beck of Crystal Springs \u2014 Role of Tick Antioxidants in Rickettsia Parkeri Colonization in the Gulf<br \/>\n<\/span><span class=\"s1\">&#8211; Rebekah Napier-Johnson of Johannesburg, South Africa \u2014 The Gut Microbial Fauna of the Hardwood Stump Borer, Mallodon dasystomus (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The faculty sponsor for the affair was Dr. Ellen Green.<\/p>\n<p>Modeled after the\u00a0Posters on the Hill\u00a0event in which students from across the country share their work in the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., Mississippi\u2019s\u00a0event is similar to ones held in 17 other states.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three undergraduate students recently represented Delta State\u00a0in the inaugural Posters in the Rotunda event at the State Capitol\u00a0in Jackson.
