{"id":63743,"date":"2015-05-20T12:48:38","date_gmt":"2015-05-20T17:48:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=63743"},"modified":"2015-05-20T12:51:16","modified_gmt":"2015-05-20T17:51:16","slug":"delta-state-launches-russia-blog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2015\/05\/delta-state-launches-russia-blog\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta State launches Russia blog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Follow a group of six <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/college-of-arts-and-sciences\/dmi-delta-music-institute-homepage\/\">Delta Music Institute<\/a>\u00a0students\u00a0and seven\u00a0Delta State University faculty and staff members as they depart to Russia on the groundbreaking program &#8220;Rivers of Music \u2014 Rivers of Culture.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The university published a live blog today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/russia\">www.deltastate.edu\/russia<\/a>, as the\u00a0group flies oversees early Thursday to continue international exchange developments with Perm State University in Perm, Russia. Photographs, videos, social media and journal entries published on the blog will allow the Delta State community to stay updated with the group&#8217;s progress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRivers of Music \u2014 Rivers of Culture\u201d utilizes\u00a0music as a\u00a0universal language\u00a0to\u00a0explore the cultures, histories and heritages of the Mississippi Delta and Perm Krai regions, both situated along historic rivers.<\/p>\n<p>Support for the platform comes from a $100,000 grant from the U.S. Department of State through the U.S.-Russia Peer-to-Peer Dialogue Program. To help foster greater contacts between Americans and Russians, the State Department launched the program in 2013. Grants up to $100,000 are provided to support collaboration, meetings, virtual interactions, exchanges and internships between American and Russian organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Perm State University sent a similar size group to Delta State in October of 2014 to attend the university&#8217;s inaugural International Conference on the Blues.
