{"id":63254,"date":"2015-04-06T09:07:34","date_gmt":"2015-04-06T14:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=63254"},"modified":"2015-04-06T09:13:21","modified_gmt":"2015-04-06T14:13:21","slug":"the-band-perry-to-perform-at-delta-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2015\/04\/the-band-perry-to-perform-at-delta-state\/","title":{"rendered":"The Band Perry to perform at Delta State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GRAMMY Museum\u00a9 Mississippi and Bolivar Medical Center have partnered to bring GRAMMY-winning\u00a0country artists The Band Perry to McCool Stadium on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince GRAMMY Museum\u00a9 Mississippi is opening later this year, we wanted to stage some events leading up to our grand opening,&#8221; said Lucy Janoush, Cleveland Music Foundation board president. &#8220;The Band Perry will be an awesome way to kick this off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>GMM Executive Director Emily Havens said, \u201cWith The Band Perry coming off of a huge win of their first GRAMMY\u00a9, we are so excited to be able to make this happen. Their music combines a little rock with some country and appeals to people of all ages. Their show is elaborate and quite entertaining.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 2010, The Band Perry have ascended to dizzying heights. Fronted by Kimberly Perry and rounded out by her younger brothers Neil and Reid, the band has notched a string of hit singles, including the quadruple-platinum \u201cIf I Die Young\u201d and \u201cDone,\u201d the platinum \u201cYou Lie\u201d and the gold-certified Country #1 \u201cAll Your Life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their recent GRAMMY\u00a9 win was for Glen Campbell\u2019s \u201cGentle on My Mind\u201d for Best Country Duo\/Group Performance. They\u2019ve also enjoyed sold-out tours and a showering of honors, including multiple ACM, CMA and CMT Music awards, as well as GRAMMY\u00a9, TeenChoice, AMA, ACA and Billboard Music award nominations \u2014 all of which has cemented the sibling trio as one of the hottest acts in recent history.<\/p>\n<p>Both Havens and Janoush expressed thanks to Charly Abraham, Delta Music Institute instructor, for his role in coordinating and producing the concert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCharly has a long, successful history of arranging and producing top-notch events, and we are so fortunate to have him here for Delta State and the community,&#8221; said Havens.\u00a0&#8220;Also, this is an incredible opportunity for Delta State\u2019s DMI students to get hands-on experience in the music industry by helping Charly with the production.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Havens also commended Bolivar Medical Center for being the title sponsor for the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe GRAMMY\u00a9 organization is all about\u00a0forming partnerships to provide music and educational opportunities to the public,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Bolivar Medical Center has stepped up for our first event, and we are grateful for their commitment to helping us with our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBolivar Medical Center is excited to have the opportunity to be a part of contributing to the success of the GRAMMY Museum\u00a9 Mississippi through sponsoring The Band Perry,\u201d said CEO Rob Marshall.<\/p>\n<p>All proceeds from the concert will benefit the construction of GRAMMY Museum\u00a9 Mississippi. GMM is owned and operated by the Cleveland Music Foundation, 501C3non-profit.
