The Delta State University Department of Art of invites the public to the opening of its Annual Juried Student Exhibition March 19 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fielding Wright Art Center on campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

The annual event\u00a0showcases the work art\u00a0students have produced over the last year and provides students with an opportunity to gain professional experiences by preparing work for exhibition and submitting it to a jury process. Students are also eligible to win financial\u00a0awards in a variety of categories. The awards are made possible by the generous support of art patrons from the Cleveland community.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s juror is Chung-Fan Chang, a painter and educator originally from Taiwan who now teaches at Jackson State University.<\/p>\n

Chang\u2019s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her work has been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, the Mississippi Museum of Art and the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel, Miss. <\/span><\/p>\n

Her most recent exhibition, “Next Kite, Next Weather,” took place at Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei, Taiwan. She co-curated “Horizon Realm: Contemporary Art from Taiwan,” an international travel exhibition that was shown at the Tenri Cultural Center in New York City and the Dollye M.E. Robinson Gallery at Jackson State University. She is the recipient of a visual arts fellowship from the Mississippi Arts Commission and of a ThinkTank 7 Emerging Educator Fellowship from Integrative Teaching International in Chicago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chang lauded the quality and variety of work entered in this year’s Delta State show. The work she selected represents all concentrations offered by the art department and reflects the diversity of the students’ esthetics and interests.<\/p>\n

Awards for the exhibit will be announced at 6 p.m. The exhibition will be viewable March 16-April 24.<\/p>\n
