Thanks to a partnership between Delta State University\u2019s College of Education and Human Sciences, numerous student organizations, BOND\/360 and the Bolivar Medical Center, the Delta premiere of the documentary \u201cBite Size\u201d is coming to the Bologna Performing Arts Center with a screening March 2 at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

The public is encouraged to attend this free BPAC event.<\/p>\n

According to the film\u2019s website, America\u2019s battle against childhood obesity is an issue too big for many to fully comprehend. With one in three children overweight, the epidemic is sweeping the nation at an unforgiving rate.<\/p>\n

In spite of these odds, \u201cBite Size\u201d showcases the stories of four inspiring kids from diverse backgrounds who are fighting for their health one day at a time. Proving that it\u2019s not just about the number on a scale \u2014 what really matters is learning what keeps you active and makes you happy.<\/p>\n

The main sponsor for the event, Bolivar Medical Center, felt the film screening was an appropriate way to educate the community about a pressing topic in Mississippi.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware that this is a national health issue, and we\u2019re proud to be a part of exposing it to the public,\u201d said Robert Marshall, CEO of the BMC. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to help bring \u2018Bite Size\u2019 to the community in partnership with Delta State.\u201d\u00a0\"BMC<\/a><\/p>\n

Betty Britt, BMC public relations director, said the film aligns with the hospital\u2019s education efforts in the Delta region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bolivar Medical Center strives to be a source of education for the community, and we felt like this event is a perfect opportunity to do so,\u201d said Britt.<\/p>\n

Todd Davis, Delta State University recreation leadership instructor and director of the outdoor recreation education program, said \u201cBite Size\u201d promotes discourse about healthy lifestyles.<\/p>\n

“I feel lifestyle choices and parental influence concerning physical activity, recreation and leisure choices, and food decisions help make a difference in the lives of our youth \u2014 and seeing this on the big screen, with young people from our community, could really make an impact,” said Davis.<\/p>\n

Beginning March 10, \u201cBite Size\u201d will be available worldwide through all leading digital VOD platforms including iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Vudu, and http:\/\/www.bitesizemovie.com<\/span><\/a>. The documentary will also be available on Cable Movies On Demand.<\/p>\n
