{"id":62649,"date":"2015-01-29T10:34:14","date_gmt":"2015-01-29T16:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=62649"},"modified":"2015-01-29T10:34:14","modified_gmt":"2015-01-29T16:34:14","slug":"performing-pets-coming-to-bologna-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2015\/01\/performing-pets-coming-to-bologna-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Performing pets coming to Bologna Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The world famous Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre, Gregory Popovich and his performing pets, are\u00a0coming to the\u00a0Bologna Center for Performing Arts one night only on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The show is a family-oriented blend of the unique comedy and juggling skills of Popovich and the extraordinary talents of his brilliant\u00a0pets. The pets love to show off on stage, performing a variety of stunts and skits. Audiences are\u00a0delighted by\u00a0this extravaganza of European-style clowning, amazing juggling and balancing acts, and of course, his\u00a0talented pets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Popovich and his cast of jugglers and clowns will be joined by over 30 pets, including house cats and dogs rescued from animal shelters. Also making appearances are geese, white doves and parrots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI have actually nicknamed my show \u2018A Second Chance\u2019 because that is what my cats and dogs have been given \u2014 a second chance of life,\u201d said\u00a0Popovich. &#8220;The main idea of my show and of this tour is to raise awareness in our society about homeless pets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Throughout the performance, the audience\u00a0will be able to witness acts such as the &#8220;Dog Classroom&#8221; and &#8220;Animal Train.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cEach animal has a special quirky thing they naturally like to do,&#8221; said Popovich. &#8220;I figure out what this trick or talent is, and then I just encourage them to do it in my show. When my pets are performing they are showing off their favorite tricks.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre has a rich performance history, presenting thousands of shows in more than 20 countries, including a multi-year run at the Planet Hollywood Resort\/Casino in Las Vegas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Popovich, a Russian native and former star of the Moscow Circus, has won numerous circus competitions and awards. He has published two books, &#8220;You CAN Train Your Cat\u201d and \u201cDoggy Gone Good,\u201d as well as released an independent film in 2014 which won the Audience Choice Award at the 17th annual Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Tickets for the show are $20-25, and special rates are available for groups of 10 or more.
