The Delta State University Staff Council recently honored Keonna Goethie, human resource assistant, as the December\u00a02014 Employee of the Month.<\/p>\n
Goethie began working for Delta State in 2013\u00a0shortly after\u00a0her husband, Andrew, became one of the assistant football coaches for\u00a0the university.<\/p>\n
Prior to Delta State, she\u00a0practiced social work for 10 years. She\u00a0perviously\u00a0worked as a mental health social worker for Region III Mental Health in Tupelo, and as a family adoption specialist for the Division on Social Services in Greenville, S.C.\u00a0\u00a0 Goethie\u00a0<\/span>attended undergrad at The University of Mississippi where she received a social work degree. Recently, she joined the elite members of the green and white family by completing her MBA at Delta State.<\/span><\/p>\n In her\u00a0free time, Goethie and her husband love to grill, feed friends, watch football, travel and spend time with family. “I\u00a0am floored and honored to receive an award such as Delta State\u2019s Employee of the Month,\u201d she said. “I\u00a0could never imagine that I would be the recipient of such an honor. To know the names and character of the people who received this award before me, makes receiving this honor all the more special. I love people and serving them comes naturally to me.”<\/p>\n Employee of the Month distinction is given to a staff member who has provided service at Delta State that is considered over and beyond those duties outlined in his or her job description. Nominations are submitted by colleagues on campus.<\/p>\n Each winner receives a plaque, monetary award, WalMart gift card from the Student Government Association, an engraved insulated coffee mug, a free parking decal courtesy of the Campus Police Department, a box of treats from The Sweetery, a parking spot of their choice, two Okra gift cards (one from Athletics and one from a private donor), marquee announcement and website recognition.<\/span> The Delta State University Staff Council recently honored Keonna Goethie, human resource assistant, as the December\u00a02014 Employee of the Month.
