{"id":62329,"date":"2014-12-05T09:29:01","date_gmt":"2014-12-05T15:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=62329"},"modified":"2014-12-05T09:29:01","modified_gmt":"2014-12-05T15:29:01","slug":"mooseltoe-comes-to-bpac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2014\/12\/mooseltoe-comes-to-bpac\/","title":{"rendered":"Mooseltoe comes to BPAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Bologna Performing Arts Center was full of holiday cheer Thursday as over 2,100 students packed the theater to experience sold-out performances of &#8220;Mooseltoe: A New Moosical,&#8221; sponsored by Entergy. Schools from Bolivar, Coahoma, Grenada, Quitman, Sharkey, Sunflower and Washington counties attended the show. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In an effort to make Mooseltoe a quality educational experience, the BPAC Arts Education Department supplied all teachers and families with an educational supplement\u00a0including\u00a0several learning activities designed to reinforce curriculum connections both before and after the performance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The musical\u00a0tells the heart-warming story about a lovable moose who wants to fly with Santa\u2019s reindeer. Throughout the performance, Mooseltoe travels across the North Pole in search of the perfect advice from the great and wise Mooseking. Along the way, Mooseltoe meets plenty of new friends, including three diva penguins, an Edward G. Robinsonesque snowman, a fat walrus named Willy, two helpful elves and Santa Claus himself. After a long and exciting journey, Mooseltoe finally encounters the Mooseking, who teaches him\u00a0to look deep inside and believe in himself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Following the performance, several audience members shared their thoughts about the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u201cThis was the best matinee performance that I believe we\u2019ve seen this season,&#8221; said Sarah Beth Childes, parent of a North Sunflower Academy student. &#8220;It seems as if every upcoming show gets better and better. The actors were great and I loved the snow-woman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Indianola Academy students Riley Kate, 7, and Anna Scott, 6, also shared their thoughts.\u00a0\u201cI really enjoyed the elves,\u201d said Kate. \u201cI liked the part of the show when the reindeer flew,\u201d said Scott.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">The Bologna Center will host three more School-Time Matinee performances in 2015.
