{"id":61630,"date":"2014-10-09T13:46:40","date_gmt":"2014-10-09T18:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=61630"},"modified":"2014-10-10T09:53:35","modified_gmt":"2014-10-10T14:53:35","slug":"madison-center-features-women-in-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2014\/10\/madison-center-features-women-in-politics\/","title":{"rendered":"Madison Center features women in politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Madison Center, DSU Votes and Common Sense Action will be hosting a week of women in politics beginning Oct. 20.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The schedule opens\u00a0with Dionne Bailey Oct. 20 at noon in the Capps Archives seminar room.\u00a0Bailey, a doctoral student at the University of Mississippi, will discuss women at\u00a0the Parchman Mississippi State Penitentiary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Featured Oct. 21 at noon\u00a0in the Jacob Conference Center is author\u00a0Rebecca Sive. Sive will provide insight on\u00a0women in politics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Nancy Bocskor, an International Democratic Adviser and professor at George Washington University,\u00a0will discuss women, power and politics on Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. in Jobe Hall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">On Oct. 23 at noon on the second floor west lobby of the H.L. Nowell Student Union, Brookhaven Senator Sally Doty\u00a0will share details on\u00a0life as a woman in the Mississippi legislature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">At 7:30 on Oct. 23,\u00a0at the same Union location, Doty and Bocskor will discuss a path to public policy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All events are free and open to the public.
