Miles Fulwider of Delta State University\u2019s Delta Music Institute is a music producer, audio engineer and musician who fuses art, music and technology in\u00a0his work. He has provided audio engineering for some of the top artists, producers, composers, and arrangers in the world \u2014 from\u00a0classical, jazz, pop, country and urban music.<\/p>\n
This summer has been no different as Fulwider spent his summer break from teaching at the DMI engineering critically acclaimed records by several world artists.<\/p>\n
Fulwider worked as an engineer on the latest recording by New Orleans artist Jon Batiste. The record, titled \u201cSocial Music,\u201d was recorded in several studios in New York and was the No. 1 jazz album on the iTunes chart for several weeks. The album received rave reviews from the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Batiste recently featured his new music in a performance on the \u201cColbert Report.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tapping into the world music scene, Fulwider joined production forces with New York City producer Jeff \u201cThe Jedi Master\u201d Jones to work with GRAMMY-award-winner Wynton Marsalis, collaborating on a recording by Brazilian bandolinist Hamilton De Holanda. De Holanda has received international acclaim for his brilliant contemporary jazz style. The recording, \u201cMundo De Pixinguinha,\u201d won album of the year in Brazil and De Holanda was selected as soloist of the year.<\/p>\n
Coming up for release this fall is Fulwider\u2019s latest work, an album he produced and recorded for the band Grinder Blues, a power trio made up of legendary bassist dUg Pinnick (King\u2019s X) and the Bihlman Brothers. Recorded in Las Vegas, the album will be released on Megaforce Records and is already receiving favorable reviews as a classic blues record with a new twist.<\/p>\n
This season also brought an opportunity for Fulwider to begin work with the Jazz At Lincoln Center\u00a0Orchestra on a film score by Wynton Marsalis for an upcoming documentary\u00a0on Jackie Robinson by American filmmaker Ken Burns.<\/p>\n
Fulwider is set to begin his second year as an instructor and coordinator of sound recording technology at the DMI. He holds a master\u2019s degree in music-music technology from New York University and a certificate from the Steven F. Temmer Tonmeister Honors Sequence at NYU.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The Delta Music Institute is an independent center of study under the College of Arts & Sciences at Delta State University, offering a B.S. degree in Entertainment Industry Studies. The focus of the DMI is to provide students with a broad and thorough education in the technological, creative, and business areas of the music and entertainment industry.<\/p>\n
