{"id":60768,"date":"2014-07-30T14:19:39","date_gmt":"2014-07-30T19:19:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=60768"},"modified":"2014-07-30T14:20:52","modified_gmt":"2014-07-30T19:20:52","slug":"geography-teachers-tour-national-heritage-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2014\/07\/geography-teachers-tour-national-heritage-area\/","title":{"rendered":"Geography teachers tour National Heritage Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Delta Center for Culture and Learning recently assisted the\u00a0National Conference of Geography Educators by providing a heritage tour of\u00a0the\u00a0central\u00a0Mississippi Delta.<\/p>\n<p>The geography\u00a0teachers\u00a0were attending the annual meeting of their Memphis conference and rode to the Delta on a coach bus.\u00a0Delta Center&#8217;s Lee Aylward led the tour and talked to the group\u00a0about\u00a0the Delta&#8217;s history and culture. The teachers visited Cleveland, Ruleville, Merigold and Mound Bayou before returning to Memphis.<\/p>\n<p>Participants came from across the U.S. and Canada, where the will return to their classrooms and teach about the Delta.<\/p>\n<p>The Delta Center for Culture and Learning is the manager of the Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area.\u00a0Learn more about the Delta Center\u2019s rich history at http:\/\/www.blueshighway.org.
