The Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University recently provided an\u00a0introduction\u00a0of the Delta’s cultural heritage to a service learning class from American University in\u00a0Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
The class was presented by the American University Hillel organization and led by director Jason Benkendorf. The service\u00a0opportunities\u00a0for the group were provided by Mississippians Engaged in Greener Agriculture.<\/p>\n
The tour included meetings at the William Winter Institute for Racial Reconciliation, a visit to\u00a0Congregation Adath Israel and\u00a0Calvary Episcopal Church\u00a0in Cleveland, Congregation Ahavath Rayim in Greenwood and the\u00a0Institute for Southern Jewish Life in Jackson.<\/p>\n
The group also attended Shabbat services and dinner at Hebrew Union Temple in Greenville.<\/p>\n
