{"id":58979,"date":"2014-02-25T15:56:22","date_gmt":"2014-02-25T21:56:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=58979"},"modified":"2014-02-25T16:05:15","modified_gmt":"2014-02-25T22:05:15","slug":"brooks-named-to-open-geospatial-consortium-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2014\/02\/brooks-named-to-open-geospatial-consortium-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Brooks named to Open Geospatial Consortium team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Talbot Brooks, director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Information Technologies at Delta State University, was recently selected to work as part of an Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) team addressing the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management activity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ability to share information on a spatial basis promotes better understanding, cooperation and trade amongst nation states,\u201d said Brooks. \u201cStandards provide the common language of location to facilitate such sharing. After all, everything is somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OGC\u2019s mission is to promote the creation and <span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\">use of open standards<\/span>\u00a0with geospatial information.
