{"id":56951,"date":"2013-09-19T21:32:55","date_gmt":"2013-09-19T21:32:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/?p=56951"},"modified":"2013-09-19T21:32:55","modified_gmt":"2013-09-19T21:32:55","slug":"college-of-business-hosts-distinguished-speaker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2013\/09\/college-of-business-hosts-distinguished-speaker\/","title":{"rendered":"College of Business hosts distinguished speaker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joseph Caruso, founder and principal of Omnifirst Capital Corporation, will be speaking in the Baioni Conference Center in Broom Hall on Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Curuso successfully leads the private investment firm focused on opportunities in technology, health care and entertainment industries.<\/p>\n<p>His first discussion is titled \u201cFinancial Aspects of Professional Sports,\u201d which will be followed by his second topic, \u201cDeveloping Partnerships\/Relationships in Business.\u201d Both presentations are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Caruso is a member of the board of trustees for his alma mater, Florida Institute of Technology, Delta State\u2019s opponent during Pig Pickin\u2019 weekend. As a longtime personal friend to President William N. LaForge, Caruso was extended the invitation to speak at Delta State prior to the weekend festivities.<\/p>\n<p>Caruso is presently the managing partner in nine companies and becomes involved in every aspect of a client\u2019s business, including arranging appropriate debt and equity funds, debt restructures, and other consulting and advisory strategies that create solutions. He founded Omnifirst in 1984 following a decade of hands-on financing and growth in the banking industry.<\/p>\n<p>He is also the co-founder\/owner of the Trenton Thunder Double-A minor league baseball affiliate of the 27-time World Champion New York Yankees.
