Ewing Hall on the campus of Delta State University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Faculty from institutions across Mississippi will be presenting on a variety of topics throughout the day.&nbsp;Lunch will be provided.&nbsp;The conference is free to DSU faculty and staff and $25 for all other attendees. &nbsp;Registration information is available at <a title=\"http:\/\/ntweb.deltastate.edu\/HEC\/HEC\/\" href=\"http:\/\/ntweb.deltastate.edu\/HEC\/HEC\/\">http:\/\/ntweb.deltastate.edu\/HEC\/HEC\/<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>The conference is committed to promoting excellence in teaching and increasing communication and collegiality amongst faculty across Mississippi.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Harvard psychologist, Dr. Robert Kegan, will present the keynote address, <strong><em>Personal Learning and Professional Development: Diagnosing and Overcoming the &ldquo;Immunity to Change.&rdquo;<\/em><\/strong> <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>In a fast-moving, experiential, and reflective workshop, Dr. Kegan will invite each of us to make use of our own experience to explore the concept of an &ldquo;immunity to change, &#8212; and what we can do about it. <\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Having spent a lifetime researching the process by which adults gradually develop greater capacities by making previously invisible dynamics observable and engage-able, Kegan and his colleague Lisa Lahey (How the Way We Talk Can Change the Way We Work, Jossey-Bass, 2001), have designed a &ldquo;new lab for professional learning&rdquo; in order to incubate similar kinds of development in a briefer period of time.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>In addition to his faculty appointment at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Kegan serves as educational chair of the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education. Kegan, a licensed clinical psychologist and practicing therapist, lectures widely to professional and lay audiences, and consults in the area of professional development.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>A separate conference for Delta State University students will run concurrently across campus.&nbsp;Students will have an opportunity to attend several sessions dealing with college life, personal responsibility, and career planning.
