Hilpert is resting comfortably this afternoon, following left knee replacement surgery today. <P><SPAN>Performed by Dr. Walter Shelton of Mississippi Sports Medicine at River Oaks Hospital in Jackson, Hilpert is expected to be in the hospital for a few days, with additional recovery time at home. With knee replacement surgery, regular physical therapy is necessary to aid in the healing process. <\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>\u201cI thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes, and I look forward to getting home,\u201d Hilpert relayed. <\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>During Hilpert\u2019s absence, Delta State Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. John Thornell will be the senior administrator responsible for the university\u2019s day-to-day operations.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN><\/SPAN>&nbsp;<\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delta State University President, Dr. John M.
