Elliott founded the Elliott-Elliott-Head Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Center in Baton Rouge, La., and with the combination of vision and hard work, he has turned his center into one of the leading privately-owned breast cancer research centers in the world.

On a visit to the Delta State campus in 1991, Drs. Robert and Mary Elliott, both Delta State graduates, were renewed with a feeling of pride for their alma mater and decided to give something back. Thus, the “Program of Excellence” was formed.

This year’s symposium features such distinguished speakers as Dr. Charles E. Hoyle, a professor in the Departments of Polymer Science and Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Southern Mississippi; Dr. Harry I.
