Davlon Miller of Hernando, a junior Computer Information Systems major at Delta State, works to rewire the inside of a computer. Delta State University\u2019s CIS department is planning its first-ever \u201cComputing Technology Fair & Competition.\u201d for Saturday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. \u2013 3:45 p.m.  <\/TD><\/TR><\/TABLE><\/P>

Delta State University\u2019s Department of Computer Information Systems is inviting all area high school juniors and seniors to showcase their computing talents, as part of the upcoming \u201cComputing Technology Fair & Competition.\u201d To be held inside Broom-Keener Hall on the Delta State campus, the event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. \u2013 3:45 p.m.  <\/P>

There are several competitions scheduled throughout the day, including Microsoft Office (<\/SPAN>10:30 a.m.- noon), Web Design (10:30 a.m. \u2013 noon), C++ Programming (1 p.m. \u2013 2:30 p.m.) and PC Troubleshooting (1 p.m. \u2013 2:30 p.m.). Students may compete individually or as a team of two. Using computers in the Delta State computing lab, students can participate in more than one competition category (schedule permitting).<\/P>

Lane Sorgen, Vice President of Microsoft Corporation, will deliver a keynote address (<\/SPAN>2:30 p.m. \u2013 3:15 p.m.) prior to the awards presentation. A scholarship will be awarded to the first place winner, with the runner-up to receive software. <\/P>

There will also be workshops available for students not participating in the competition, as well as tours of the <\/SPAN>Delta State campus. Parents are welcome to attend the workshops and awards presentation.<\/P>

All interested participants should register at <\/SPAN>www.dsutechnology.com<\/A>. A registration form, as well as the $10 entry fee should be mailed to Delta State University, CIS Department, Attn. Lynn Byrd, P.O. Box 3223 DSU, Cleveland MS 38733. Registration forms should be received no later than Wednesday, Oct. 11. <\/P>

Day-of registration will begin promptly at <\/SPAN>10 a.m., with all participants to receive a t-shirt, lunch and a complimentary ticket to the Delta State Homecoming football game at 4 p.m. inside Travis E. Parker Field. <\/P>
