{"id":298,"date":"2006-09-13T09:42:46","date_gmt":"2006-09-13T09:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2006\/09\/13\/delta-state-boasts-top-enrollment-in-school-history-ten-percent-growth-over-five-years\/"},"modified":"2013-09-03T12:56:30","modified_gmt":"2013-09-03T12:56:30","slug":"delta-state-boasts-top-enrollment-in-school-history-ten-percent-growth-over-five-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2006\/09\/delta-state-boasts-top-enrollment-in-school-history-ten-percent-growth-over-five-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta State boasts top enrollment in school history, ten percent growth over five years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><SPAN><P><TABLE cellSpacing=\"1\" cellPadding=\"1\" width=\"60%\" align=\"center\" border=\"0\"><TR><TD><P align=\"center\"><IMG height=\"216\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/univ_relations\/StudentGROUP.jpg\" width=\"329\" border=\"0\"><\/P><\/TD><\/TR><TR><TD><P align=\"left\">Student enrollment at <SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN> is the highest it has been in the school\u2019s 81-year history behind three year\u2019s of solid increases and ten percent growth over the last five years. <\/SPAN><\/P><\/TD><\/TR><\/TABLE><\/P><\/SPAN><P><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>University<\/SPAN><SPAN> officially announced its headcount enrollment for the fall 2006 semester today at 4,216 students, representing an almost three percent increase from a year ago. <\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Compared to state-wide figures, <\/SPAN><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN> ranks second in its increase among all public institutions behind <\/SPAN><SPAN>Mississippi<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>University<\/SPAN><SPAN> for Women at 6.3 percent growth, with five of the eight state institutions reporting increases. According to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL), preliminary fall enrollment figures for 2006 at <\/SPAN><SPAN>Mississippi<\/SPAN><SPAN>\u2019s Universities showed a slight growth with just under 70,000 students enrolled for the semester.<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN>, behind three years of steady, solid growth, boasts a ten percent increase over a five-year enrollment period. In 2001, 3,801 students were enrolled at the University, while today\u2019s enrollment figures stands as the largest tally in the institution\u2019s 81-year history. <BR><\/SPAN><SPAN><\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>\u201c<\/SPAN><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>University<\/SPAN><SPAN> is dedicated to serving the students of this region. We are equally committed to continual growth and today\u2019s numbers stand as evidence to that commitment,\u201d lauded Delta State President, Dr. John M. Hilpert. \u201cMuch of the credit must go to the enrollment management team for their positive efforts and hard work.\u201d<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Dr. Debbie Heslep, Dean of Enrollment Management, was equally pleased with the enrollment figures, offering, \u201c<\/SPAN>I am very excited about our continued growth. The marketing efforts by the University, along with our recruiting staff have made great progress in making Delta State University known throughout the region.
