{"id":2784,"date":"2011-09-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2011\/09\/28\/community-foundation-gives-students-opportunities-for-bologna-arts-education\/"},"modified":"2013-09-09T14:06:45","modified_gmt":"2013-09-09T14:06:45","slug":"community-foundation-gives-students-opportunities-for-bologna-arts-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2011\/09\/community-foundation-gives-students-opportunities-for-bologna-arts-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Community foundation gives students opportunities for Bologna arts education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"561\" height=\"376\" class=\"caption\" alt=\"L-R : Tom Pittman, Laura Howell, Jon Levingston Tom Pittman, President of the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, presents a check to Laura Howell, Arts Education Coordinator at the Bologna, and Jon Levingston, Bologna advisory board member and Coahoma County businessman.\" src=\"\/Images\/univ_relations\/2011Releases\/CFNM Grant 013.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Bologna Performing Arts Center (BPAC) at Delta State University received a check for $3,000 to provide 500 free tickets for elementary students to attend its School Time Matinee Series.&nbsp; The grant will provide opportunities for the youth of Coahoma, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica County schools to experience the performing arts in a world class facility with the nation&rsquo;s best professional ensembles.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Pittman, Community Foundation president, visited the Delta State campus recently and presented the check to the BPAC advisory board.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are excited to connect with students and schools from Northwest Mississippi and bring them to the center and to our campus&rdquo; said Laura Howell, BPAC arts education coordinator.&nbsp; &ldquo;We are pleased to be able to offer 500 children from Coahoma, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica County schools the opportunity to attend a live performing arts experience for free.&nbsp; Through our partnership with the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi we are able to increase student access to the arts by removing the ticket cost barrier.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The BPAC is offering five school-time matinees this season.&nbsp; The first matinee, &ldquo;Seussical,&rdquo; is next Thursday, October 6.&nbsp; There will also be a Christmas matinee, &ldquo;Twas the Night Before Christmas&rdquo; on Tuesday, November 29.&nbsp; Next year, the BPAC is bringing in &ldquo;Junie B.
