Hagenson (at right), a freshman Health, Physical Education and Recreation major of Poplarville, was the recipient of the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Freshman Leadership Award. Pictured with Hagenson is Marya Paolillo of Oxford, a Delta State student and president of the Delta State Chapter of ODK. <\/p>\n<p>Each spring, the Delta State University Chapter of ODK selects a first year student who shows good leadership qualities to receive the ODK Freshman Leadership Award.&nbsp; The recipient should exhibit such qualities as a high grade point average, a propensity to be active in campus and community affairs, and an assumption of leadership role.<\/p>\n<p>Hagenson landed a 4.0 GPA at the end of her first semester at Delta State. She also excelled outside of the classroom setting four of the top-10 5K times in Lady Statesmen Cross Country team history.&nbsp; She was also selected as Freshman of the Year for the 2010-2011 United States Track &amp; Field Coaches Association.<\/p>\n<p>Hagenson is also a member of the Poplarville United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stacey R.
