As a culminating event to its month-long festival celebrating students\u2019 artistic talent, \u201cArts in April,\u201d Delta State University, through its music department and Special Programs Committee, will present \u201cThree by Three: Three Choral Masterworks by Three Choirs,\u201d on Sunday, April 30 at 3 p.m. in the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus. <\/P>

Sponsored in part by Cellular South and the BPAC, the concert will feature the Delta State University Chorale, the <\/SPAN>University<\/SPAN> of <\/SPAN>Mississippi Concert Singers<\/SPAN>, and the <\/SPAN>University<\/SPAN> of <\/SPAN>Southern Mississippi Chorale<\/SPAN>, with the <\/SPAN>University<\/SPAN> of <\/SPAN>Southern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra<\/SPAN>.  <\/SPAN><\/P>

The 150-voice choir and 50-member orchestra will perform \u201cLord, Thou Hast Been Our Refuge\u201d by Ralph Vaughan Williams, \u201cSchicksalslied\u201d (\u201cSong of Destiny\u201d) by Johannes Brahms, and \u201cChoral Fantasy\u201d by Ludwig van Beethoven.  <\/SPAN><\/P>

In addition, the USM Symphony Orchestra will present Beethoven\u2019s \u201cEgmont Overture.\u201d  The choirs and orchestra will be led by Dr. <\/SPAN>Richard Waters<\/SPAN>, director of choral activities at Delta State University; Dr. Donald Trott, director of choral activities at the University of Mississippi; and Dr. Gregory Fuller, director of choral activities at the University of Southern Mississippi.  <\/SPAN><\/P>

\u201cThe large performing forces, combined with the variety of repertoire, ranging from serene to triumphant, will make this one of the musical highlights of the year,\u201d promised Waters.<\/SPAN><\/P>

The choirs and orchestra will present the same program at all three campuses during the last week of April.  \u201cWe thought this would be a special and unique way to collaborate and showcase our talented students at different locations across the state,\u201d Waters continued.  \u201cWe have been planning for this event since the fall of 2004.  To be able to finally present the finished product for an audience is quite exciting.\u201d<\/SPAN><\/P>

Tickets are on sale at the Bologna Performing Arts Center Box Office and will also be available at the door.  Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 18 and under, and free for all <\/SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>State<\/SPAN> faculty, staff and students with proper identification.<\/SPAN><\/P>

The concert will be followed by a gala reception in the BPAC lobby sponsored by the <\/SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>State<\/SPAN> Special Programs Committee.<\/SPAN><\/P>
