Delta State \t\t\tUniversity’s Robert E. Smith School of Nursing is expecting \t\t\timportant visitors when the Commission on Collegiate Nursing \t\t\tEducation (CCNE) team calls for a reaccreditation review of their \t\t\tbaccalaureate and graduate programs on October 6-8.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

“Delta State \t\t\tUniversity was the first nursing program in Mississippi to be \t\t\taccredited by CCNE and we have since maintained that accreditation,” \t\t\tsaid Dr. Lizabeth L. Carlson, Dean of the Robert E. Smith School of \t\t\tNursing. “The CCNE accredits baccalaureate and graduate nursing \t\t\tprograms by evaluating and making judgments about the quality of \t\t\tthese nursing programs. The commission serves the public interest by \t\t\tassessing and identifying programs that engage in effective \t\t\teducational practices in the preparation of nurses. Accreditation by \t\t\tthe CCNE indicates that the public can have confidence in the \t\t\tquality of the nursing program.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Robert E. \t\t\tSmith School of Nursing has also maintained state accreditation \t\t\tthrough the State Board of Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) \t\t\tsince the start of both the undergraduate (1977) and graduate (1995) \t\t\tprograms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interested \t\t\tparties are encouraged to submit comments to the CCNE about the \t\t\tDelta State University Robert E. Smith School of Nursing \t\t\tBaccalaureate and Graduate Programs. CCNE will accept “written and \t\t\tsigned third-party comments until 30 days before the visit or \t\t\tSeptember 6, 2010,” Dean Carlson quoted from the CCNE directives. \t\t\tThese written and signed comments are to be sent to Ms. Amanda \t\t\tBrownbridge, Accreditation Assistant; One Dupont Circle, NW; Suite \t\t\t530; Washington, DC 20034-1120.<\/span><\/p>\n
