Students in the Mississippi Humanities Council’s Family Reading Bonds (MHCFRB) program, which encourages literacy by working with parents and their children, received their own books at a recent session held in Itta Bena.  <\/font><\/p>\n

This six week program utilizes a storyteller and discussion leader to encourage parents and their lower elementary age children to read together as a family and discuss important issues such as fairness, courage, cleverness, and dreams and determination. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
The books were provided by members of the Harry Potter Alliance (HPA), and distributed by the Delta Center for Culture and Learning at Delta State University. The Delta Center has received thousands of books from the Alliance and will be sending them to literacy programs across the Delta. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
The Mississippi Humanities Council Family Reading Bonds program is presented in conjunction with Communities in Schools Greenwood Leflore.<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Along with the books and certificates of appreciation given to the families at the final session, each child in the program will received a book each week, compliments of the Harry Potter Foundation.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Harry Potter Alliance has 60 chapters around the world, and raises funds and provides resources for projects in Africa, the Caribbean, and the U.S.  <\/span><\/div>\n
