{"id":198,"date":"2006-04-04T11:02:07","date_gmt":"2006-04-04T11:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2006\/04\/04\/delta-state-set-to-celebrate-34th-annual-springfest\/"},"modified":"2013-09-03T12:56:37","modified_gmt":"2013-09-03T12:56:37","slug":"delta-state-set-to-celebrate-34th-annual-springfest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2006\/04\/delta-state-set-to-celebrate-34th-annual-springfest\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta State set to celebrate 34th annual Springfest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>University<\/SPAN><SPAN> is preparing for its 34<SUP>th<\/SUP> annual Springfest<B>,<\/B> to be held on <SPAN>the quadrangle of the campus, Wednesday, April 5, with activities scheduled between <\/SPAN><SPAN>2 p.m. \u2013 6 p.m.<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Springfest 2006 will feature games, food and festivities on the quad, with \u201cWax Hands\u201d<\/SPAN><SPAN> making<SPAN> it<\/SPAN>s<SPAN> debut on the University campus<\/SPAN> as part of the day\u2019s highlights. <SPAN>The fun <\/SPAN>begins<SPAN> when participants are asked to dip their hands into warm, soothing wax <\/SPAN>until a mold is formed, removed<SPAN> and then colored in one of more than 32 color combinations. &nbsp;<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Henna tattooing will also be made available on the quad, as well as an inflatable bungee run, Velcro wall and solid rock climbing wall. <\/SPAN><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN>\u2019s Union Program Council will also sponsor \u201cAn <SPAN>Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course<\/SPAN>\u201d for the day. Participants can jump<SPAN>, crawl, climb, squeeze and slide <\/SPAN>their <SPAN>way through an upheaval o<\/SPAN>f obstacles in what is promised to be<SPAN> <\/SPAN>\u201can adrenaline r<SPAN>ush<\/SPAN>.\u201d<\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Whild Peach and The Breakfast Club will share twin billing in an evening concert inside<B> <\/B>Walter Sillers Coliseum<B>. <\/B>The concert is slated to begin at <\/SPAN><SPAN>7 p.m.<\/SPAN><SPAN> and is free to all <\/SPAN><SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><SPAN>State<\/SPAN><SPAN> students, faculty and staff. There will be a $5 admission fee for the general public.<\/SPAN><\/P><P>With appearances on Saturday Night Live, HBO\u2019s Chris Rock Show, the 2002 Grammy Awards, MTV\u2019s TRL, and the David Letterman Show, Whild Peach are proven performers. This soul-rock, slam-down group&#8217;s tight ensemble includes guitarist\/vocalist David Whild, lead vocalist Peach, drummer Tuesday Henderson, bassist Blu Gomes, guitarist Matt Hollums and keyboardist\/vocalist Hezekiah Nixon. <\/P><P><SPAN>The Breakfast Club will take to the stage second, with show time slated for approximately <\/SPAN><SPAN>9 p.m.<\/SPAN><SPAN> <\/SPAN><\/P><P><SPAN>Formed in January of 1994 in <\/SPAN><SPAN>Winston-Salem<\/SPAN><SPAN>, <\/SPAN><SPAN>NC<\/SPAN><SPAN>, The Breakfast Club soared to new heights on the club and college circuit with the then original concept of playing nothing but early 80&#8217;s dance\/keyboard-oriented cover music. Throughout the band&#8217;s history, various line-up changes have inevitably occurred.
