{"id":1758,"date":"2010-02-02T13:12:04","date_gmt":"2010-02-02T13:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2010\/02\/02\/delta-state-to-host-alabama-mississippi-sociological-association-meeting\/"},"modified":"2013-09-09T14:08:22","modified_gmt":"2013-09-09T14:08:22","slug":"delta-state-to-host-alabama-mississippi-sociological-association-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deltastate.edu\/news-and-events\/2010\/02\/delta-state-to-host-alabama-mississippi-sociological-association-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Delta State to host Alabama-Mississippi Sociological Association meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\">The 2010 annual meeting of the Alabama-Mississippi Sociological Association (A-MSA) will be held Thursday, Feb. 18 &#8211; Friday, Feb. 19, on the campus of &nbsp;Delta State University. <\/font><\/p>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The theme for the meeting is &ldquo;Sense of Place and the Sociological Imagination.&rdquo; Meeting highlights and events include:<\/span><\/div>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Pre-conference workshops on youth development and regional fresh food initiatives<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Presidential address by John J. Green<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Paper, panel and poster sessions offering the latest scholarship on research and teaching<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Reception at the DSU Archives and Museum with refreshments and a photography exhibit<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Awards banquet with keynote speaker Katie Kerstetter from Washington, DC<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Cultural experiences highlighting and celebrating the uniqueness of the Mississippi Delta and the region&rsquo;s importance to the world<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The A-MSA business meeting<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">All A-MSA conference events will be held in the H.L. Nowell Student Union, with the exception of the pre-banquet reception at the Capps Archives and Museum.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Membership is $20 for faculty, and $5 for students, conference registration is $25 for faculty, $5 students, $45 for non-members, and the optional awards banquet is $25 for faculty\/non-members and $15 for students. <\/span><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Fees may be paid online at <a title=\"http:\/\/www.a-msa.org\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.a-msa.org\/\">www.a-msa.org<\/a>, or onsite at the registration desk.
