Delta State University will host the 2010 Honor Band Clinic beginning Thursday, Jan. 21. The event’s culminating concert will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. inside the Bologna Performing Arts Center on the campus.  <\/font><\/p>\n

 <\/div>\n
This year’s Honor Band is comprised of 100 of the most talented students in Mississippi representing more than 30 of the state’s high schools.  These students earned their place in the ensemble following auditions that took place during the fall 2009 semester.<\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
The clinic begins with check-in on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. in Zeigel Hall. The students will have their first rehearsal that evening followed by a choice of swimming, use of Wyatt gymnasium, or watching a movie.  <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
On Friday, the students will continue rehearsing in preparation for the concert on Saturday.  <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
This year’s guest clinician is Dr. Greg Fant, Interim Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences and former assistant director of bands at New Mexico State University. <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
Fant is a graduate of Delta State University. While teaching in Mississipi following hisgraduation, Fantwas named the 1984 winner of the A. E. McClain Award, presented to the top young Mississippi band director.  <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
The exciting program  will feature selections chosen by Fant from the following: “Fanfare and Flourishes” by Jim Curnow, “Southwest Summer”by Robert W. Smith, “Southern Hymn”by Samuel Hazo, “Rushmore” by Alfred Reed, and “Ther’re Off,”a march by Fred Jewell and arranged by Andrew Glover.  <\/span><\/div>\n
