Alfreda Cowins welcomes the audience and explains the events scheduled for the month of October. October 2 is National Denim Day; Oct. 6 is Wear Pink Day. For the Delta State home football game on Oct. 24, individuals wearing pink will be admitted free.<\/font><\/p>\n

Delta State University’s Center for Community and Economic Development\/BEEP (Breast Education and Early-detection Project) held a Kick-off Day\/ Paint the County Pink event Thursday, Oct.1, at 10 a.m. on the Delta State Quadrangle. <\/font><\/p>\n

The event began with Dr. Wayne Blansett, Delta State vice president for Student Affairs, followed by Alfreda Cowins, BEEP program coordinator, a keynote speech by breast cancer survivor Tracie Griffin and the reading of a resolution by Bolivar County District 5 Supervisor Pete Roncoli, declaring October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.<\/span><\/div>\n
