The Miss Mississippi Corporation has recently announced its first-ever viewer\u2019s choice contest, an exclusive text messaging competition presented by wireless sponsor Cellular South. The Cellular South Viewer\u2019s Choice Scholarship winner, to be determined by a tally of total votes text messaged to Cellular South, will receive a $2,500 scholarship, among other prizes. <\/B>Voting opened at <\/SPAN>6 a.m.<\/SPAN> on June 1 and ends at <\/SPAN>9 p.m.<\/SPAN> on July 9, the evening of the pageant finals. Votes can be cast by Cellular South text messaging customers at any time during the voting period. Voting opportunities also will be available to any pageant attendees on-site each evening of the competition, July 6-9, through Cellular South wireless phones to be set up in the lobby of the <\/SPAN>Vicksburg<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>Convention Center<\/SPAN>. The winner of the Cellular South Viewer\u2019s Choice $2,500 Scholarship will be announced July 9 during the live broadcast of the pageant, just prior to the announcement and crowning of the new Miss Mississippi. The viewer\u2019s choice winner also will receive a free wireless phone and one year of free service from Cellular South. Cellular South text messaging customers, and anyone on-site during the pageant competition, can cast an unlimited number of votes for one or more pageant contestants by sending the contestant\u2019s assigned number in a text message to \u201cMISS\u201d (6477). Numbers \u2013 from 1 to 42 \u2013 are assigned in alphabetical order according to local pageant titles (e.g., <\/SPAN>Miss<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>Alcorn<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>County<\/SPAN> is #1 and <\/SPAN>Miss<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>William<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>Carey<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>College<\/SPAN> is #42). Turner, who earned the <\/SPAN>Miss<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>Delta<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>State<\/SPAN> <\/SPAN>University<\/SPAN> crown in late February, has been assigned No. 6.
