Students and faculty from Wake Forest, Colgate, and North Carolina State Universities visit Po’ Monkey’s Lounge as part of a tour of the Delta<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Students and faculty from Wake Forest, Colgate, and North Carolina State Universities toured the Delta on June 5th<\/sup> as part of their two-week course in civil rights history and sociology.  Their tour was led by Luther Brown, Director of Delta State University’s Delta Center for Culture and Learning.  <\/span><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
The course, titled “Social Stratification in the Deep South,” can be accessed online at  http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Social-Stratification-in-the-Deep-South\/73430107131<\/span><\/a>. It also has Twitter and Flickr feeds that can be accessed through the Facebook page.  Among other places, the class visited Dockery Farms, the grave of Fannie Lou Hamer, Mound Bayou, Merigold, and the Delta State campus.  They also heard Dr. Reggie Barnes tell about his experiences in Delta schools and the making of the documentary film “Lalee’s Kin.”  <\/span><\/div>\n

Following the tour, the group enjoyed live Blues by Terry “Harmonica” Bean and his Blues band at Po’ Monkey’s Lounge in Merigold.  <\/span><\/div>\n
